Oral Pain Treatment

Tooth or gum pain is usually never a coincidence and should be investigated as soon as possible. There is a difference between tooth and gum sensitivity and any other oral pains, and while general sensitivity is by no means unusual it is still often wise to have a dentist or endodontist conduct a comprehensive exam to find the cause, especially if it has occurred all of a sudden or with no imminent cause. Here at New City Endodontics, we can help when it comes to diagnosing oral pain. After a meeting with our New City endodontist, you can have a better idea of what is causing your oral pain as well as have a means of treating said pain.

When it comes to gum sensitivity or pain, you may have early stage gum disease. This early form of the condition is also more commonly known as gingivitis, and while it is fairly easy to treat, it should by no means be treated lightly. The sooner gingivitis is treated, the more likely you will be able to avoid more advanced stages of gum disease that can lead to gum recession and bone loss. Gingivitis is often characterized by tender, swollen and sometimes bleeding gums. In order to treat this condition, you will need to have one if not several dental cleanings performed, which we can do for you here at New City Endodontics. You may also need to adjust your oral hygiene routine at home as well. If you are experiencing tooth pain, then you may have a cracked tooth or a cavity. A cracked tooth can occur as the result of an accident or injury and can inflict pain on the nerve found at the root of the tooth. A cavity is when plaque eats away at your tooth enamel and creates a hole or a cavity as the name would suggest. A cracked tooth can be treated with the application of a dental crown by one of our New City endodontists and a cavity can either be treated with a dental filling or a tooth extraction depending on the severity of the decay. Oral sores may also be a point of concern as they can be painful and may the first sign of oral cancer if they do not heal or keep recurring.

If you are experiencing any kind of oral pain, do not let it go untreated. Our New City endodontists here at New City Endodontics can provide you with a comprehensive exam, oral health screening and with any treatment you may require in order to diagnose the issue and resolve it.
